Duties
- Design and teach cheerleading routines that incorporate dance, stunts, jumps, and tumbling techniques suitable for various skill levels
- Lead engaging practices that emphasize teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship
- Mentor cheerleaders on proper technique, safety procedures, and performance skills
- Coordinate with event organizers to prepare teams for competitions and performances
- Ensure all activities adhere to safety standards, including proper use of equipment and spotting techniques
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and participants about schedules, progress, and team expectations
- Foster a motivating environment that encourages confidence-building and positive behavior management
Skills
- Proven experience in cheerleading coaching or performing at a competitive level
- Strong background in sports-specific training instruction such as gymnastics, or dance
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols including AED operation and injury prevention
- Excellent communication skills to motivate and instruct diverse groups of children and teens
- Experience working with students in sports coaching settings
- Ability to teach stunts safely while managing behavior effectively
- Familiarity with other athletic disciplines such as basketball, soccer, swimming or martial arts is a plus
- Prior experience in childcare or working with youth in sports or recreational programs
