Ojai Construction is a commercial construction subcontractor based in McLean, VA, specializing in drywall, ceilings, finishes, and secure-facility (SCIF) construction. We are licensed in Virginia and Washington, DC, and we work primarily on projects throughout the Northern Virginia and DC defense corridor, including work on secure and government facilities that requires cleared, background-checked crews.
Position Summary
We are hiring an experienced Carpenter to perform metal stud framing, drywall hanging, and acoustical ceiling tile (ACT) installation across our active commercial and government-related project sites. This role is central to our drywall package scope on projects ranging from standard commercial buildouts to secure facility fit-outs.
Responsibilities:
- Layout, framing, and installation of cold-formed metal stud partitions per architectural drawings and wall type schedules
- Hanging and fastening of gypsum wallboard (GWB), including single- and multi-layer fire-rated assemblies
- Installation of suspended acoustical ceiling tile (ACT) systems, grid, and hangers
- Reading and working from architectural drawings, wall section details, and finish/RCP schedules
- Coordinating rough openings, blocking, and backing with other trades
- Maintaining compliance with project-specific security and site-access requirements on secure/government facilities
- Adhering to all jobsite safety protocols and quality standards
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship required (mandatory for site access on select government and secure-facility projects)
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in framing, drywall hanging, and/or ACT installation on commercial construction projects
- Preferred: prior experience on government, federal, or secure-facility (SCIF) construction projects
- Must be able to pass a background check, including for access to secure and government-related job sites
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, wall type legends, and finish schedules
- Own hand tools; reliable transportation to jobsites across the Northern Virginia / DC metro area
- Physical ability to perform framing and overhead ceiling work, including lifting, climbing, and extended standing
