The Youth Minister of Youth & Young Adult Faith Formation and Evangelization supports the mission of Saint Timothy Catholic Church by leading faith-filled, engaging, and well-organized ministry opportunities for teens, young adults, families, and volunteers. This role fosters a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, encourages active participation in parish life, and coordinates sacramental preparation, youth ministry, young adult ministry, service opportunities, retreats, leadership formation, and campus ministry activities.
Because all St. Timothy Catholic Church employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
- Oversee sacramental preparation for Confirmation, including retreats, parent and sponsor gatherings, and related formation activities.
- Plan and lead youth ministry programs, including Life Nights, service projects, social events, and faith formation opportunities.
- Develop young adult ministry gatherings, service opportunities, and parish engagement activities.
- Recruit, train, support, and supervise teen, young adult, and adult ministry volunteers.
- Collaborate with parish staff, families, volunteers, and diocesan partners to ensure programs align with Catholic teaching and parish priorities.
- Prepare and manage ministry calendars, communications, registrations, attendance, and program materials.
- Support campus ministry, parish events, and other ministry initiatives as assigned.
- Develop and manage the Youth Ministry Budget responsibly and maintain accurate records for ministry activities.
- Use appropriate technology, online platforms, and social media to support communication, formation, and outreach.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Practicing and fully initiated Roman Catholic in good standing.
- Strong knowledge of Catholic teaching, Sacred Scripture, and parish ministry practices.
- Minimum of three consecutive years of recent experience in parish youth ministry or comparable ministry leadership.
- Basic Catechist certification from the Diocese of Orange or willingness to begin certification within the first year of employment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with teens, young adults, parents, volunteers, and parish staff.
- Experience facilitating small groups, leading prayer, and supporting faith formation for youth and young adults.
- Ability to recruit, train, organize, and support volunteer ministry teams.
- Proficiency with common office technology, online meeting platforms, and ministry communication tools.
- Maintains current Safe Environment certification and complies with all parish and diocesan policies.
- Bachelor's degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Education, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Life Teen resources and youth ministry models.
- Bilingual ability in English and Spanish.
- Experience leading worship or coordinating liturgical ministry elements.
- Faith-filled leadership and commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church.
- Pastoral sensitivity, sound judgment, and professionalism.
- Strong organization, planning, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Ability to build relationships with teens, young adults, families, volunteers, and parish leaders.
- Creativity in program design, outreach, service, and faith formation.
- Clear verbal, written, digital, and interpersonal communication skills.
Typical office, parish, and ministry environments, including evening and weekend activities.
Computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, copier, online meeting platforms, social media tools, presentation software, and audio/visual equipment.
Ability to communicate, remain stationary, move around parish facilities, reach, climb stairs, and occasionally carry ministry materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
