Electrician
Expected Pay Rate: $28 - $38 per hour

The Electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems used in manufactured products and construction supply. The Electrician performs skilled electrical work, including wiring, panel installation, lighting systems, and electrical component installation in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and company procedures, while adhering to established industry and quality standards, safety regulations, and production requirements. The Electrician troubleshoots electrical systems, diagnoses faults and performs repairs using specialized tools and testing equipment. When needed, the Electrician performs other trade tasks to support company projects.
Duties and Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Interpret and apply blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical specifications for company projects.
- Install, connect, and repair electrical panels, wiring, lighting systems, fixtures, outlets, switches, and other electrical components.
- Install and connect electrical circuits, networks, and components to ensure proper functionality and compatibility.
- Inspect electrical systems and safety components, including switches, receptacles, and circuit breaker panels, to identify hazards, malfunctions, and repair needs.
- Use testing equipment to diagnose electrical issues and verify proper system operation.
- Perform electrical repairs and replacements on wiring, equipment, components, and related systems as needed.
- Assist with other day-to-day production activities in other trade areas.

Skills and Specifications
- Thorough understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) regulations.
- Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools including wire strippers, voltmeters, and other electrical tools.
- Ability to cut, bend, thread and assemble electrical conduit.
- Proven experience with PLC panel wiring.
- Thorough knowledge of industry safety procedures.
- Ability to follow direction, collaborate effectively, and contribute to team objectives.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not require the supervision of direct reports.
Work Environment
This position operates in professional office, workshop, production facility, and field environments which include working near moving mechanical parts, non-weather wet or humid conditions, and extreme cold and heat, using tools of the trade and other equipment.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to twist, turn, bend, lift, kneel, climb, and stand. Occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. may occur.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, on-site, hourly position. Standard days and hours are 40 hours per week, weekends and extended hours as needed. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on business needs.
DGS will pay a one-time, completely discretionary relocation incentive of $5,000.00 for a qualified applicant to relocate to Rome, NY for daily work at the DGS location there. The incentive will be payable once a qualified and selected candidate provides evidence of relocation and is contingent (vests) upon satisfactory completion of one year of misconduct-free employment, otherwise repayment of the incentive is required. Any offer of employment to a candidate not located in the Rome, NY area is contingent upon relocation to the vicinity of Rome, NY.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Electrician degree or certificate from a technical college
- 5+ years’ of experience as an electrician in industrial and/or commercial
- Valid electrician’s license preferred, as applicable.
Work Authorization / Security Clearance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal government security clearance.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) drug test and motor vehicle record review.
- Must possess a valid driver's license compliant with REAL ID requirements.
- Must be able to travel with the Continental United States (CONUS) and outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).
