Duties
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly according to dietary guidelines and resident preferences
- Serve meals with professionalism, ensuring proper portioning and presentation
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, dining areas, and food handling surfaces in compliance with food safety standards
- Support the dietary team cleaning dishes, and managing waste disposal efficiently
- Adhere strictly to dietary requirements for residents, including special diets or restrictions, ensuring accurate food handling and serving practices
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, and refrigeration units, following proper procedures for manual handling and safe lifting practices
- Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying supervisors of supply needs
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred
- Knowledge of food production, preparation, sanitation, and safety protocols such as proper food handling and workplace safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently with geriatric patients while demonstrating excellent customer service skills
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math skills for portion control and inventory tracking
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and adhering to sanitation standards
- Willingness to work with dietary departments on special meal plans and dietary requirements
- Certification in CPR is a plus; all applicants must follow PPE use guidelines and safe lifting practices when handling heavy items or performing manual tasks
- Experience with food service or dietetics is advantageous but not required; training will be provided for suitable candidates
