HIGH SCHOOL2026-2027Anticipated Start Date: September 15, 2026REPORTS TO: PrincipalRESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the school health services program under the direction of the Principal and Superintendent in compliance with school district health policies, procedures, and protocols. Strengthens and facilitates student academic success by supporting all students optimal level of health and wellness as well as a healthy school environment. The focus of nursing services is the prevention of illnesses, early detection and intervention of health problems, and appropriate referrals as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Functions in accordance with the Standards of Professional School Nursing Practice, the Nurse Practice Act and federal and state statutes related to school nursingProvides first aid and medically prescribed servicesRecords immunizations, health findings and other relevant health dataCommunicates with parents/guardians on the health needs/concerns of childrenFacilitates the mandated screening programs consistent with Massachusetts General law and as required by Massachusetts Department of Public Health and provides referrals as neededProvides preventive health services to students including screenings, health education and consultationProvides nursing assessments and develops 504s and individual health care plans for students requiring health and nursing interventionsInitiates referrals to parents, school personnel and community health resources for intervention and follow-up services, as neededCollaborates with the Massachusetts immunization and Epidemiology Programs to ensure infection control in the school setting and promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases through assessment of immunization compliance, early detection, surveillance and reporting of contagious diseasesProvides recommendations for the TRU61 School Health policy development and establishes standards and reports for school health service programs in collaboration with the MDPH, the MDOE, and other state agenciesParticipates as the health specialist on teams and committees to develop plans including behavior plans, Re-entry plans, 504s and IEPs that support a students academic successParticipates as a health resource in the development of procedures for disaster preparedness planning and crisis management interventionCoordinates school health activities and serves as a liaison between the home, school, and communityPrepares the budget for health office suppliesProvides consultation on school health issues to all school and community members committed to the well-being of our studentsEngages in research and evaluation of school health services to determine and maintain updated school health programs and school nursing practicesPerforms other duties as assigned by Principal, School Committee or SuperintendentABILITY TO: Develop and maintain accurate student health records Identify abnormal growth and development and symptoms of diseaseCoordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agency, and other community resourcesMaintain positive and open lines of communication with all staff, students and their familiesManage multiple tasksMaintain confidentialityKNOLEDGE OF: Medical disorders and treatmentChild growth and developmentPublic health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agenciesUniversal precautionsFederal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health servicesDistrict policies, procedures, rules and regulationsFERPA and HIPPA regulationsQUALIFICATIONS: MA License as a RN preferredCurrent Massachusetts certification in CPR, AED and First AidApproved CORI and Fingerprinting results EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in nursing from accredited college or universityAppropriate Massachusetts Department of Education certificationSALARY: $57,005.00Applications accepted through School Spring only.Greg Sturges, PrincipalTantasqua Regional Jr. High School320 Brookfield RoadFiskdale, MA
