Job Description:
The Student Services Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that effective services and interventions are being utilized to advance student success in the most appropriate least restrictive environment throughout BGCS. The Student Services Specialist will work collaboratively with staff throughout BGCS to provide support in programming including, eligibility determination, instruction and assessment, data collection, Positive Behavior Instructional Supports (PBIS), and Multi-tiered Support System (MTSS). The Student Services Specialist will collaborate with the Teacher of Record (TOR) and/or School Psychologist in the creation of the Functional Behavior Assessment. The Student Services Specialist will also assist the Director of Exceptional Learners to ensure compliance with the creation and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Position Responsibilities:

Assist/conduct functional behavior assessments for the purpose of ensuring accurate student placement, developing more effective IEP objectives, and complying with mandated requirements.

Facilitate and coach teams through the development and implementation of legally compliant Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)/Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for identified students.

Implements and coaches school personnel on research-based methods of classroom management and behavioral strategies.

Model strategies for and assist with classroom management practices regarding evidence based instructional practices for working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges if requested.

Provide support with creating Individualized Education Plans and ensuring implementation with fidelity.

Provide follow-up and consultative support for the implementation of principles provided in staff development to ensure fidelity of implementation.

Provide transition support for students moving across the various continuums of the least restrictive environment (LRE).

Provide professional development to certificated and classified staff, as requested.

Participates in student IEP meetings as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of assisting in establishing effective student achievement goals and conveying/receiving information.

Attend manifest determination case conferences as applicable.

Participate in instructional team meetings, intervention team meetings, and staffings throughout BGCS if requested.

Serve as the point of contact for students being considered for more restrictive placement options on the LRE continuum.

Work collaboratively with the administrators and teachers in BGCS when collaboratively planning for the delivery of services to students with unique emotional, behavioral, and academic needs.

Assist in the gathering and submission of data for local, state, and federal reports as requested.

Collects, analyzes, and summarizes behavioral data as requested.

Collaborate with District Administration and schools with implementation of MTSS.

Assist Director of Exceptional Learners as requested.

Make positive contributions to the culture and climate of BGCS.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment:
- 184 Days- Teacher Contract
