In this rewarding position, you’ll collaborate with dedicated educators and serve as a key resource for students with significant cognitive and adaptive needs. The assignment includes providing direct OT services at both an elementary school (grades K-6) with four self-contained classrooms and a high school (grades 9-12) featuring three self-contained classrooms focusing on Independent Life Skills. You’ll also share your expertise by offering supervision and mentorship to a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Occupational Therapist license in Arizona
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Experience in school settings, preferably with self-contained classrooms or students with cognitive/adaptive needs
- Ability to provide COTA supervision in compliance with state and district requirements
- Strong communication, adaptability, and team-building skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group therapy based on students’ IEP goals
- Evaluate students’ needs and document progress
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to foster student engagement in daily routines and learning contexts
- Provide ongoing supervision and support to the on-site COTA
- Develop strategies and adaptations to support student participation in school activities
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to comprehensive student plans
