Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting financial reporting processes. Your expertise in accounting software and systems will help maintain accurate financial records, perform reconciliations, and assist with month-end closing activities. Duties
- Prepare and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using financial software of QuickBooks
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and review financial data for discrepancies or anomalies.
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures, including financial statement preparation in compliance with GAAP standards.
- Assist with internal controls related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and ensure proper documentation of all accounting activities.
- Post insurance carrier payments and work with Revenue Cycle Team to reconcile payments received.
- Collaborate with internal teams on budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting projects while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of corporate accounting principles, governmental accounting practices, and technical accounting concepts.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar systems; experience with financial software like ADP or UltiPro is a plus.
- Expertise in Excel data analysis, spreadsheets management, and accounting system integrations to support accurate financial reporting.
- Familiarity with GAAP standards, double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, account analysis, and journal entries.
- Excellent numeracy skills combined with strong attention to detail for data entry and account reconciliation tasks.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while demonstrating strong organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills for customer service interactions within finance teams or external vendors involved in accounts payable/receivable management.
