Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Los Angeles Port Drayage Dispatcher to join our logistics team (可以说中文优先考虑). In this vital role, you will coordinate the movement of freight containers between the port and various destinations, ensuring smooth operations and timely deliveries. Your expertise in transportation management systems, GPS, GIS, and supply chain logistics will drive efficiency and optimize fleet utilization. Duties
- Coordinate and schedule drayage operations for container pickups and deliveries at the Los Angeles port, utilizing transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Communicate effectively with truck drivers, terminal personnel, carriers, and customers via multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear and professional phone etiquette.
- Monitor real-time GPS and GIS data to track fleet movements, optimize routes, and troubleshoot logistical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate data entry of shipment details, dispatch records, and freight information within transportation management platforms like AS400 and transportation planning tools.
- Oversee shipping & receiving processes, ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies while managing freight documentation.
- Utilize analysis skills to evaluate operational performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements for enhanced efficiency.
- Manage fleet management tasks including scheduling maintenance, tracking vehicle status, and coordinating with third-party logistics providers (3PL).
Experience
- Proven experience in transportation dispatching within a port or freight environment is highly preferred.
- Strong familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine.
- Knowledge of GPS, GIS technology, and fleet tracking tools to coordinate drayage operations effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze logistical data to improve routing efficiency and reduce delays.
- Excellent communication skills with proficiency in phone etiquette and multi-line phone systems.
- Experience working with freight shipping & receiving procedures, warehouse operations, or supply chain management is advantageous.
- Ability to operate data entry platforms like AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems efficiently.
