Nikos Gyros To Go Brunswick, a fast-casual Greek restaurant, is seeking motivated and skilled experienced Cooks to join our kitchen team. As a cook, you will play a key role in preparing high-quality Greek dishes, maintaining consistency in flavor and presentation, and ensuring all food safety standards are upheld. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced culinary environment and take pride in delivering exceptional meals. Candidates with strong cooking skills, attention to detail, and a passion for Mediterranean cuisine will excel in this role.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and plate a variety of Greek menu items according to standardized recipes and quality standards
- Perform food prep tasks such as chopping, slicing, marinating, portioning, and assembling ingredients for daily service
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures, ensuring proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and restocking of cooking stations, prep tables, and kitchen equipment
- Monitor cooking times, temperatures, and food quality to ensure consistency
- Assist with daily inventory tasks, including tracking ingredient usage and notifying management of low stock
- Support catering orders, special events, or large-volume meal preparations when needed
- Collaborate closely with other cooks and kitchen staff to ensure efficient service flow
- Uphold high standards of food presentation, accuracy, and customer satisfaction during all shifts
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or culinary environments is preferred not required
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling procedures
- Skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment operation
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with various cooking methods
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Dietary department or dietary aide experience is advantageous but not required
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends or holidays if needed
