About the Role:
Essential Eyecare & Optical in Longwood, FL is looking for a friendly and organized Optical Receptionist / Patient Care Coordinator to be the welcoming face of our practice. In this role, you'll play a vital part in delivering an exceptional patient experience from the moment they walk through our doors. Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients, ensuring a warm and professional front desk experience
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using optical practice management software
- Verify vision and medical insurance eligibility and process billing and co-pays
- Maintain accurate patient records and update demographic and insurance information
- Coordinate patient flow between the front desk, pre-testing, and the doctor
- Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and follow up with patients regarding orders and appointments
- Assist patients with frame and lens selections and support optical dispensing staff as needed
- Assist doctor with pretesting patients as needed
Requirements:
- Prior experience in an optical, medical, or healthcare front desk or receptionist role preferred
- Familiarity with vision insurance plans (VSP, EyeMed, Davis Vision, etc.) is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-first attitude
- Proficiency with scheduling software, EHR systems, and basic computer applications
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Detail-oriented with accurate data entry and record-keeping skills
- Positive, team-oriented demeanor and professional appearance
