Job Summary
***PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING****We are seeking a RELIABLE compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support to individuals with disabilities in a Behavior Focused Adult group home setting. The DSP will assist clients in achieving their personal goals, promoting independence, and enhancing their quality of life. This role requires a strong commitment to resident rights, patient observation, and the ability to perform various daily living activities (ADLs).
****Available Shifts; Must be able to work weekends; you will have 2-3 days off a week.
Day Shift Hours- Thurs. 2:15pm-10:30pm; Fri 2:15pm-10:30pm; Rotating Weekends work Saturday and Sunday 9:30am-10:30pm off the following weekend
Overnight Thurs-10:30pm-8:30am; Fri 10pm-9am; Sat 11:00pm-9am; Sunday 11pm-8:30am
Responsibilities
- Support residents in daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management.
- Observe and document residents' behaviors and progress, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Assist with mobility and physical support, including lifting when necessary.
- Foster a positive environment by encouraging social interaction and participation in community activities.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs and preferences.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of residents at all times, adhering to established protocols for emergency situations.
- Promote resident rights by advocating for their needs and preferences within the community.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including social workers and hospice care teams, to provide comprehensive support.
Experience
- Previous experience in a Behavior Focused group home or similar setting is preferred but not required.
- High School Diploma or GED Mandatory
- Level 2 Background Check Mandatory
- CPR, First Aid; Behavior Assistant; PCM (Restraints); Online courses for Direct Core Competency etc...preferred but will provide training if needed.
- Experience in social work or home community care can enhance your candidacy for this role.
- A compassionate demeanor with strong communication skills is vital for building rapport with residents and their families.
