About the Role
Under general direction, the CMM Programmer position will be responsible for
developing, creating, validating, and maintaining CMM inspection programs for
precision machined components using engineering blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T
requirements. This role supports production and quality operations by ensuring all
inspection programs and measurement processes meet customer specifications and
internal quality standards.The ideal candidate will have strong experience with aerospace-grade inspection requirements, tight-tolerance machining environments, and advanced metrology practices. This role works closely with machinists, CNC programmers, engineering, and quality teams to troubleshoot dimensional issues, improve manufacturing processes, and ensure consistent product conformity while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Create, modify, validate, and optimize CMM inspection programs for production and first article inspections
- Program and operate CMM equipment using software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar platforms
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T requirements in accordance with ANSI Y14.5 standards
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision machined components
- Support AS9102 FAIR documentation and inspection reporting requirements
- Troubleshoot dimensional and inspection-related issues while identifying root causes for non-conformances
- Collaborate with machinists, programmers, engineering, and production teams to improve quality, inspection methods, and manufacturing processes
- Develop repeatable and reliable inspection methods for tight-tolerance aerospace and defense components
- Verify inspection methods and ensure accurate measurement repeatability and reproducibility
- Support capability studies, SPC initiatives, and continuous improvement projects
- Maintain program revision control and proper inspection documentation
- Assist with fixture development and probe qualification when required
- Ensure all inspection equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
- Adhere to company quality standards to minimize nonconformances and rework
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
Qualifications
- 5+ years of CMM programming experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of experience using PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar CMM software
- Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection requirements
- Experience with AS9102 FAIR documentation and aerospace quality standards preferred
- Experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined components for aerospace or defense industries
- Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, materials, and manufacturing methods
- Experience with CAD model-based programming and inspection
- Hands-on experience with CMM operation, setup, and program prove-outs
- Familiarity with SPC, capability studies, and root cause analysis
- Experience with portable metrology equipment such as FARO arms or Romer arms is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
