The Activity Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for residents in a skilled nursing facility. This role helps promote engagement, well-being, and quality of life through structured and meaningful activities in a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in planning and organizing daily, weekly, and special activities
Lead group and individual activities under supervision of the activity director
Encourage participation and engagement from residents
Set up, clean, and maintain activity spaces and materials
Support transportation or escort resident to and from activities when needed
Observe and report changes in participant behavior, mood, or physical condition
Document attendance and participation in activities as required
Collaborate with Activity Director and care staff to tailor programs to participant needs
Ensure activities are carried out safely and in accordance with facility policies
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must have a Certified Nursing Assistant License
Previous experience with recreation activity in a healthcare setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with diverse populations, including seniors or individuals with special needs
Energetic, patient, and compassionate attitude
Basic organizational and time-management skills
