Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medication Aide to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist with medication administration, provide personal care, and support residents' overall well-being within a senior living or healthcare facility. Your expertise will help ensure residents receive safe, respectful, and effective care while maintaining compliance with all healthcare regulations. Responsibilities
- Safely administer prescribed medications following all state and federal regulations, including proper documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Assist residents with daily personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track health status.
- Support residents with specialized needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, and memory care routines for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and ensure confidentiality of all patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with residents, family members, and healthcare team members to coordinate care plans and address individual needs.
- Follow all safety protocols related to manual handling, heavy lifting, and infection control practices to promote a safe environment for residents and staff.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Medication Aide or Certified Medication Technician (CMT) recognized by the State Board of Nursing.
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care best practices.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or memory impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease is advantageous.
- Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Cerner; familiarity with EHR systems is a plus.
- Certifications in CPR and First Aid are required; additional training in hospice care or acute care is beneficial.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and maintain physical stamina for long shifts involving manual handling tasks.
- Strong communication skills combined with a compassionate caregiving approach that respects resident dignity and promotes quality of life.
