County Line Vet is looking for a veterinary technician or assistant! ~30 hours/week
We are a low-cost clinic that mainly focuses on spay/neuter/dentals and wellness. Some basic illness cases are seen, but we do not have any imaging modalities or advance diagnostic equipment available.
We work with a lot of rescue organizations, which account for about 70% of our patients. Currently, we do curb-side service due to the small nature of our clinic. Clients call/text when they arrive and check-ins are performed at their cars.
We are open 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) from 7:15 am for surgery drop offs, until about 5 pm. Shifts are typically about 10 hours. We are located in North Fort Collins and will be partnering/sharing space with FoCo Pets that will be set to open at the same time. The clinic is currently under construction but supposed to completed early August.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about animals, working with rescues, and can thrive in a fast paced surgery environment. Multi-tasking skills are a must! Must be able to lift 50 lbs. We are a small and close group, so a positive attitude and working well with others is a must.
2+ years of experience necessary, surgery experience required.
Duties include:
- Obtain medical history, vitals and body weight
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time
- Must be physically able to walk flights of stairs to the parking lot frequently throughout the day
- Dental cleaning occasionally (scaling, polishing teeth and charting)
- Perform venipuncture, peripheral catheter placement and IV fluid therapy
- Intubation
- Assisting with weekly supply orders when necessary
- Tracking inventory
- Ability to work fairly independently
- Working with aggressive animals safely and comfortably
- Managing emergency situations
- CPR proficient
- Anesthesia monitoring
- Logging and drawing up controlled mediations
- Surgical preparation using aseptic techniques
- Prepare lab samples for send out (no current in house lab)
- Perform appropriate patient restraint for examinations and procedures
- Filling prescriptions
- Admitting and discharging patients
- Client communication and education
- Machine maintenance (autoclave, dental machine, anesthetic machines)
- Cleaning, stocking, general organization
