Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Status: Full-Time | Part-Time | PRN
Location: Galveston, TX
Pay: $33–$40/hour
Galveston Nursing & Rehabilitation is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to support a therapy program focused on restoring independence, preserving function, and helping residents safely engage in daily life.
In this role, you play a critical part in carrying out plans of care that directly impact how residents perform everyday tasks, adapt to changes in ability, and maintain as much independence as possible.
Your impact as a COTA:
- Helping a resident safely return to dressing, bathing, and self-care after illness or injury
- Supporting participation in daily routines that promote independence and confidence
- Reinforcing adaptive techniques that allow residents to function more independently
- Working with long-term residents to maintain skills and prevent further decline
- Being part of measurable, day-to-day progress that residents and families can see
What the work feels like here:
- Treatment centered around ADLs, upper extremity function, and daily activity
- The ability to see progress in how residents function and engage each day
- Clear direction from the OT with ongoing communication and collaboration
- A therapy team that stays aligned and supports consistent care delivery
What you’ll be doing:
- Carrying out treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist
- Supporting residents with ADLs, functional mobility, and upper extremity strengthening
- Adjusting treatments based on resident response and progress
- Communicating updates and observations to the OT and care team
- Completing timely and accurate documentation
What we’re looking for:
- Active Texas COTA license
- Skilled nursing or post-acute experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in care delivery
- Someone reliable and comfortable working as part of a team
