Industrial Engineering Internship
The Industrial Engineering Intern will work alongside Dexter’s Engineering and Site Teams to identify opportunities, solve manufacturing challenges, and execute projects that make a measurable impact on our operations.
This is a hands-on internship designed to give students meaningful experience in a manufacturing environment. Interns may take ownership of projects from initial problem identification and scoping through analysis, implementation, documentation, and results.
Potential internship locations include Elkhart, Albion, and Fremont, Indiana, as well as locations in Oklahoma and Texas.
What You’ll Work On
As an Industrial Engineering Intern, you’ll apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to real-world manufacturing and engineering challenges. Projects may include:
- Continuous improvement and process optimization
- Automation and manufacturing process improvements
- Debottlenecking and capacity utilization
- Time studies and productivity analysis
- Plant layout and material flow improvements
- Ergonomic and safety improvements
- Capital projects
- Equipment and process troubleshooting
- Material handling improvements
- Project estimation and justification
- Quality and process analysis
- Project definition, scoping, and development of documented project plans
- Creating drawings, documentation, training materials, and other resources needed to successfully implement projects

Candidates must be actively enrolled at an accredited college or university and pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial engineering or a related engineering discipline.
