Summary
The Mechanical Field Engineer supports facility and production operations with a primary focus on mechanical systems reliability, maintenance planning, and vendor coordination. While this role includes some field troubleshooting, it is primarily responsible for identifying system issues, managing maintenance activities, tracking equipment performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Working closely with the Facility Management Manager and cross-functional teams, this position ensures mechanical equipment and systems are maintained efficiently, downtime is minimized, and maintenance processes are well-documented and optimized.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or facility maintenance environments.
- Strong preference for hands-on field experience (maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning).
- Exposure to maintenance planning, tracking systems, or vendor coordination preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and industrial machinery
- Experience with field troubleshooting and mechanical failure diagnosis
- Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, pumps, compressors,
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and industrial standards
- Ability to read and interpret: Mechanical drawings, P&IDs, Equipment manuals and schematics
- Experience with root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions
- Proficiency in using mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment, and measurement devices
- Working knowledge of facility systems (HVAC, compressed air, , boilers, etc.)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in field conditions
- Good communication skills for coordination with operations, vendors, and engineering teams
- High attention to safety, quality, and reliability
- Adaptability to changing priorities and emergency situations
Essential Functions
- Support troubleshooting and analysis of mechanical systems and equipment failures
- Diagnose failures in:
- Pumps, motors, bearings, gearboxes
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Conveyors and automated equipment
- Conduct root cause failure analysis and implement corrective actions
- Support and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Participate in equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up activities
- Monitor and improve equipment reliability and uptime
- Assist with mechanical design modifications and field improvements
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for repairs, parts, and upgrades
- Develop and maintain maintenance procedures, documentation, and reports
- Support facility systems including: HVAC, Compressed air systems, Water and utility systems
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and safety standards, including proper use of PPE
- Provide technical support to production and maintenance teams
- Respond to urgent plant issues and breakdowns in real time
- Assist in spare parts planning and inventory management

Work Environment
Work is performed in a variety of environments which may involve working near moving mechanical parts, equipment, or machinery on rough or uneven surfaces, and exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, odors, gas, oils, fumes, extreme temperatures, or heights. May occasionally be exposed to inclement or hazardous conditions including but not limited to inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises and travel; requiring moderate physical activities.
