Position Summary
The Second Shift Lead directs daily warehouse, processing and logistics operations. They ensure safe, efficient handling and processing of steel products to meet customer specifications. Core duties include team leadership, inventory management, equipment monitoring, and enforcing strict safety protocols.
Essential Job Functions
- Team leadership: Train, schedule and supervise warehouse personnel, including material handlers, laser operators, drivers, and saw operators. Manage, evaluate and report on all activity and production.
- Quality Control: Inspect incoming steel shipments and outgoing finished goods to verify accuracy, grade, dimensions, packaging, and material condition.
- Safety and compliance: Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety protocol, conduct safety meetings, and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintenance: Coordinate regular maintenance and repairs of operational, processing and transportation equipment.
- Logistics and Dispatch: Oversee material handling, coordinate stock transfers between branches, and route outgoing trucks efficiently.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels and assist with conducting physical inventory counts.
- Other: Perform other duties as assigned to maintain a safe and efficient work environment, fulfilling the Warehouse Supervisor's duties in any absence.
Required Qualifications (Experience and Education)
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in warehouse, steel processing, or metal fabrication.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of forklift and sideloader operations, laser processing and saw cutting processes.
- Soft Skills: Excellent math, logistical coordination, and organizational skills.
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
