American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position at a Magnet-designated Level II Trauma Center in Milwaukee, WI, requiring a minimum of 3 years ICU experience including 1 year of CVICU experience.

30-bed CVICU unit at a 933-bed Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center in Milwaukee, WI

Patient population includes complex cardiac cases (post-op CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs/replacements, heart transplants, pacemakers), thoracic surgeries (esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, lobectomy), and vascular surgeries (AAA, TVAR, carotid endarterectomy)

Patient ratios: 1:1 for post-op/critical patients, 1:2 for regular ICU status, 1:3 for mixed status; tech ratio is 1:8–10

12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week

Weekend rotation every third weekend

1–2 holidays required per contract

Floating may be required to ED Holding, other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, Neuro ICU), MSU (1:3 ratio), Sitter, and PACU Surge

No on-call requirements

EMR: Epic (experience required)

Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and GE monitors

RNs draw labs from invasive lines only; peripheral blood draws are performed by phlebotomy
-
Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred

Minimum 3 years of ICU experience, including at least 1 year of CVICU experience, with most recent experience within the last year

Proficiency in invasive line monitoring (Swan-Ganz, A-lines), epicardial and transvenous pacemakers, chest tubes, cardiac medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation/paralytics), ventilator/trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation

Epic EMR experience required

Experience with CV surgical support technology (ECMO, CVVH, IABP, VAD) preferred

At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year

Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Dedicated 24/7 support includes a CVICU Intensivist, CT Surgeon on call, General Intensivist, Hospitalist, ICU-designated Respiratory Therapist, Charge Nurse (rarely with patient assignment), and HUC
-
Orientation consists of 1 day total: 2–4 hours of nurse educator onboarding followed by unit time with a preceptor

Schedules are set on a 6-week cycle and are provided 1–2 weeks before the start of each cycle

Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved per contract

A fatigue policy is in place limiting all staff, including travelers, to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts

Scrubs must be a solid color and professional in appearance — no graphics, logos, or designs

Free parking available; night shift workers have access to an attached parking structure
