Position Summary
The Groundskeeper/Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the winery property. This hands-on position includes landscaping, irrigation, light maintenance, equipment operation, seasonal projects, and general repairs.
The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, can work independently, and is proactive in identifying and resolving maintenance issues before they become problems.
Primary ResponsibilitiesGrounds Maintenance
- Mow, edge, trim, and maintain lawns and landscaped areas.
- Weed, prune, fertilize, and care for trees, shrubs, flowers, and vineyard landscaping.
- Plant seasonal flowers, shrubs, and decorative landscaping.
- Operate zero-turn mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and other landscape equipment.
- Maintain parking areas, sidewalks, patios, and outdoor gathering spaces.
- Remove leaves, debris, snow, and ice as needed.
Irrigation & Landscape Systems
- Monitor and repair irrigation systems.
- Adjust sprinkler heads and watering schedules.
- Troubleshoot leaks and replace damaged irrigation components.
- Maintain landscape drainage systems.
Property Maintenance
- Perform general carpentry, painting, staining, and touch-up work.
- Complete minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Repair fencing, gates, doors, hardware, and signage.
- Assist with building maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Pressure wash patios, sidewalks, buildings, and equipment.
- Maintain outdoor furniture and event spaces.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance on landscaping equipment.
- Change oil, filters, belts, blades, and perform basic mechanical repairs.
- Maintain maintenance logs and equipment records.
- Keep tools and maintenance shop clean and organized.
Winery Support
- Assist with event setup and breakdown.
- Move tables, chairs, wine barrels, and equipment.
- Support seasonal vineyard or harvest activities when needed.
- Assist with miscellaneous property improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, facility maintenance, or property maintenance preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with basic repair skills.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems.
- Experience safely operating landscaping equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable operating power tools and heavy equipment safely.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Skills
- Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge.
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
- Tractor or skid steer experience is a plus.
- Experience with vineyard or agricultural equipment is beneficial but not required.
