Gulf Coast Primate Sanctuary is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and compassionate individual to assist with the daily care of our resident primates and other exotic animals. This position is physically active and requires someone who enjoys working outdoors, solving problems, and contributing to animal welfare.
Primary Responsibilities
* Clean and sanitize animal enclosures, feeding areas, and work spaces
* Prepare diets and assist with daily feeding routines
* Build, repair, and install enrichment items for animals
* Assist with enclosure maintenance and minor repairs
* Move supplies, animal feed, enrichment materials, and equipment
* Help maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the sanctuary grounds
* Observe animals and report any health or behavioral concerns
* Follow all sanctuary safety protocols and procedures
* Assist with special projects as neededQualifications
* Must be at least 18 years old* Reliable transportation is required
* Must be dependable and committed to reporting to work as scheduled
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
* Must be able to pass a criminal background check
* Experience with animals is preferred but not required; training will be providedPhysical Requirements
* Must be able to lift and carry at least 20 pounds regularly
* Must be capable of bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and performing physical labor
* Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
* Must be physically capable of safely performing all job duties
