BASIC FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for assisting the CEO in the day-to-day operation in providing clinical oversight, coverage and management services for the clinics within the SOSI. This leader works closely with the CEO and Executive Committee and other leaders in developing policies and procedures to support the medical providers in the delivery of high quality medical care within the clinics.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The individual in this position reports to the CEO and in collaboration with the Executive Committee. The person in this position works closely with all nursing and clinical staff, Revenue Cycle Manager, CEO, to ensure smooth day-to-day patient and clinical operations at SOSI.
The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategy of SOSI, personifying service, and operational excellence. A leader of SOSI is expected to be fully engaged in the creation and maintenance of the best patient, employee, and physician experience.
This position requires excellent leadership skills with a philosophy of creating a high-trust culture that empowers employees as individual contributors and fosters a strong team environment and must be able to demonstrate an ability to find creative solutions to complex problems. Initiative, creativity, and outstanding written and verbal communication are required.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Clinical Supervision
- Oversight all clinic staff (RNs, LPNs, MAs, ATs and technologists) in daily operations, technical and professional assistance, and manages employee relations issues.
- Works with nursing staff to ensure medical providers have quality nursing support by obtaining staff with appropriate skills and abilities who fit within the clinic culture.
- Ensures provision of quality care through orientation, ongoing staff training and education.
- Assigns daily workload to nursing staff and oversees work being performed to ensure appropriate nursing coverage.
- Actively participate with improvement initiatives and work with Administrator and Medical Director to communicate necessary information to staff.
- Monitors and evaluates annual competencies to ensure nursing skills are up-to-date and within best practice and is evidence based.
- Performs nursing job duties as needed including but not limited to administering shots, advising nurses, supporting a medical provider, etc.
- Oversees the completion of ordering or developing patient education materials to meet the needs of the patients.
- Provides oversight and delegation as appropriate for the following duties:
- Proper inventorying and ordering of medical supplies, proper medication orders and refills, monitoring the use and ordering replacement drugs, ordering medical supplies
- Maintenance of clinical and urgent equipment and controls.
- Works with Front Office Supervisor to create and maintain Provider scheduling templates.
Customer Service
- Ensures nursing provides courteous service in support of the medical providers and to meet patients’ needs.
- Addresses and follows up on patient complaints and reporting for compliance purposes.
Quality and Safety
- Identifies patient needs/trends, analyzes patient flow problems, and suggests solutions to patient care problems.
- Collaborates with Administrator and Executive Committee on development and implementation of the clinic nursing department’s goals, policies, procedures, budget quality assurance plan, and work standards.
- Collaborates with the Administrator to compile and analyze data on patient outcomes, quality assurance results, budget/goal achievement, and performance/productivity and prepares reports for clinic manager and administration.
- Responsible for the maintenance and follow-up of safety events entered into quality reporting program and works with Quality Department to lead Root Cause Analysis exercises, identify solutions and implement changes as a result of findings.
- Assists the staff to input data into clinical quality reporting programs, runs reports, summarizes and reports results to appropriate leaders and committees.
Compliance and Regulatory
- Ensures that patient care/nursing practice meets both safety and legal requirements of the licensing boards/regulatory agencies.
- Assures nursing units adherence to SOSI Healthcare and clinic-specific structure standards/policies.
- Keeps current in clinical area of practice in CO State DOH and other regulatory agency changes; shares with staff and implements such changes.
- Actively participates in preparing for and the licensing/credentialing process.
General Duties
- Participates on the SOSI Clinic Management Team working cohesively to provide the best service to staff, patients, and customers.
- Coordinate PTO and other leave/absences for clinical staff (ensure clinical areas are adequately covered).
- Actively participates in the budgeting process for nursing staff and collaborates with Clinic Manager on capital equipment requests.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. Meets the requirements of the SOSI leadership standards of education, meetings, etc.
- Assures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
- Assures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
- Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
- Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
- Assures that additional accountability, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSN degree preferred
- Prior experience/expertise for three years in operations, healthcare setting strongly preferred.
- Previous leadership experience required.
- HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic Life Support) within three (3) months of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Good reading eyesight; full vision acuity, depth perception, and color perception.
- Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
