The Sanford-Springvale YMCA is seeking dependable, enthusiastic leaders to join our School-Age Childcare team! Site Leaders are responsible for providing high-quality before- and after-school programming where children feel safe, supported, and excited to participate.

- Hanson Elementary School (At the Lebanon elementary school)
- Eric L. Knowlton School (Knowlton)
- North Berwick Primary School
- Vivian E. Hussey School (Hussey)
Essential Job Duties That Must Be Safely Performed With or Without Reasonable Accommodation:
- Oversee the daily operation of an assigned before- and after-school program.
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities and lesson plans.
- Supervise program staff and support a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for children and staff.
- Ensure the program follows all state childcare licensing regulations and YMCA policies.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and daily sign-in/sign-out documentation.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with families, YMCA staff, and school personnel.
- Ensure the safety and appropriate supervision of children at all times.
- Respect school property and ensure all program spaces are left clean and organized.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all child, family, and employee information.
- Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, and professional-development opportunities.
- Assist with program promotion, enrollment, and other operational needs.
- Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the YMCA Parent Handbook.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Attend staff meetings as required.
Physical Demands/Hazards:
- This position requires regular sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling. The employee must be able to:
- Regularly lift or move up to 30 pounds.
- Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Safely lift and carry a child weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Move tables, chairs, toys, and other program equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Provide verbal and visual instructions and demonstrations to children.
- Interact regularly with children, families, school staff, YMCA employees, and members of the public.
- Use computers and other electronic devices as required.
Required Job Skills:
- Must be able to provide verbal/visual presentations to students.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Proven ability to relate effectively with coworkers, employees, parents and children of varying ages.
Education/Experience:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 12 months of experience in a licensed childcare facility serving 13 or more children; and a postsecondary degree or at least 30 college credit hours.
- Must have experience with program development and staff supervision.
- Must be able to work independently and make responsible decisions.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to build positive relationships with children, families, coworkers, and school personnel.
- CPR and First Aid certification are required.
- Must successfully complete all required background checks.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the YMCA’s mission and core values is preferred.
Job Types: Part-time, Full-time
Pay: $15.10 - $20.00 per hour
