POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Commodity Director, the Warehouse Worker will perform various duties to ensure the timely ordering, loading, unloading, storage, and distribution of commodity foods. The Warehouse Worker will also work to ensure each client meets the income eligible criteria, and maintaining, updating and approving applications for the Commodity Food Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Verifies and keeps records of incoming shipments and outgoing home deliveries.
2. Inspects shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, order or other records.
3. Unloads semis and produce trucks, rotate inventory, and restock frontline.
4. Operate pallet jack, tier lift truck, and hand truck to move, convey, or hoist product from vehicle to warehouse area.
5. May required wearing special attire and/or protective equipment (i.e. Helmets, Back Support belts, etc.)
6. Fill home delivery orders and operate vehicle to make home deliveries and home visits.
7. Ensures general maintenance of warehouse and office building.
8. Ensures compliance with federal and state standards for food handling, cleanliness, and storage.
9. Maintains confidentiality when applicable.
10. Communicates with clients regarding applications and outside agencies regarding deliveries, clients, and paperwork (i.e. DHS, DOD, USDA and Americold)
11. Maintains and monitor weekly inventory of product and corrects discrepancies when possible.
12. Operates Automated Inventory System (AIS) used in preparation of commodity food orders.
13. Other duties may be assigned within the scope and complexity of this positions essential function.
14. Attends any mandatory trainings.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, and stand with occasional sitting. The employee is frequently required to bend, squat, crouch, and use hands for grasping and reach with the hands and arms above shoulder level. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and lift and/or carry more than 100 pounds. The employee must use pallet jack to move pallets that could weigh 300 pounds or more. The employee will be required to do some outside work in the community garden and maintaining the sidewalks in the winter.
POSITIION REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school Diploma or equivalent required.
2. One year of related experience and or training preferred.
3. Must have a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.
4. Must be able to run other machinery required for the warehouse (i.e. snow blower, rototiller, sweepers.)
5. Must have the ability to work well with the general public and maintain positive demeanor.
6. Excellent communication skills required.
7. Must be able to handle disorderly clientele.
8. Must have excellent computer skills.
9. Must have an excellent past work record and attendance record.
10. Must have the ability to scrutinize applications and ensure applications are filled out and filed correctly.
11. Must be able to adhere to rules and regulations mandated by all the different programs.
12. Must have the ability to work with ordering systems used by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Department of Defense.
13. Must be able to work outside when required.
14. Must be able to travel for training and mandated meetings.
15. Must be able to work unsupervised.
