Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and organized Dispatcher to coordinate the efficient movement of transportation operations. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule vehicle dispatches using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software to optimize routes and delivery times.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and phone call management tools to relay instructions and updates.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries promptly, resolving issues efficiently, and maintaining professional phone etiquette during high-volume calls.
- Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements in road transportation operations and supply chain workflows.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dispatching within logistics or transportation planning environments; familiarity with road transportation operations is highly valued.
- Strong knowledge of transportation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for data entry, reporting, and internal communication purposes.
- Experience with vehicle dispatch software, freight management tools, and GPS tracking systems.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Effective communication skills including phone call management, phone etiquette, and internal communication protocols.
- Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations governing vehicle safety, hours of service, and freight handling procedures.
- Ability to analyze logistical data for operational insights; strong analysis skills are a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in transportation or logistics are advantageous.
