The hiring salary range is $96,881.40 - $106,569.54 annually commensurate with experience.
Telework eligibility is determined by county policy and the approval of the hiring department.
Charles County Government is seeing an experienced Associate County Attorney II to work under the general supervision of the County Attorney. This position will provide legal advice and services to all County departments, agencies, boards, and commissions, as well as the County Commissioners, the County Administrator, and other elected and/or appointed public officials.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Prepares and presents litigation before the Courts and various administrative agencies.

Interprets federal, State, and local laws and ordinances.

Negotiates and prepares agreements, and other legal documents.

Researches and provides written and oral legal opinions on various legal issues.

Drafts legislation, ordinances, resolutions, and rules and regulations.

Prepares transactions for real property acquisition and conveyance.

Responds to various Public Information Act Requests

Advises County Commissioners, departments, agencies, boards, commissions, and other elected and appointed officials.

Interacts with general public and media regarding County legal issues.

Attends meetings of County boards, commissions, and agencies.

Serves as counsel to the Board of License Commissioners (Liquor Board) and/or Homeowner’s Association Dispute Review Board (HOADRB) as assigned.

Coordinates and reviews Public Information Act requests for documents

Responds to citizen inquiries.

Performs other related job duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary with frequent periods of light physical activity and is performed in office surroundings. Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs, bend, reach, hold, grasp, and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards; and the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.
