Facilities / Construction Project Manager (Temporary)
Job Details
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Temporary Facilities / Construction Project Manager oversees and coordinates facility related construction and installation activities. This role manages contractors, supervises the movement, shipment, and installation of equipment, and ensures all work complies with permitting, safety, and utility requirements. The position requires broad knowledge of construction practices, general contracting, utilities infrastructure, and facility operations.
This is a fixed-term role specifically tied to the project's duration, which is expected to conclude within ~18 to 24 months.
Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day activities for multiple construction and facilities upgrade projects.

Coordinate and supervise contractors, trades, and service providers to ensure work is complete, on schedule, and within scope.

Plan and oversee the movement, shipping, and installation of equipment including heavy machinery and specialized systems.

Ensure proper utility connections for power, water, gases, and other required services.

Maintain compliance with all local permitting, inspection, and regulatory requirements.

Develop project schedules, track progress, and provide regular updates to leadership.

Identify and mitigate risks related to construction activities, equipment installation, and facility operations.

Oversee jobsite safety practices and ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Facilities, EH&S, and Engineering) to define project requirements and resolve issues.

Monitor contractor performance and manage change orders, invoices, and documentation.

Plan, execute, and monitor expenses within budget.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Facilities Management, or related field.

7+ years of experience managing construction, facility, and/or capital improvement projects.

Working knowledge of general contracting practices, construction safety, and jobsite coordination.

Familiarity with utility systems including electrical power, water, and compressed or specialty gases.

Ability to manage multiple contractors and stakeholders simultaneously.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, permits, and technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications

Project management certification (PMP, CAPM, or equivalent).

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification

Experience with Microsoft Project and Excel.

Prior experience overseeing equipment installation projects or industrial facility upgrades.

Knowledge of permitting processes and local building codes.

Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, laboratory, or technical facility environments.

Experience with logistics planning for equipment movement and shipping.
For California, the salary pay range for this role is $100,918 - $138,763 per year. Please note this range is provided as a general guideline.
