Job Summary
Irving Park Living and Rehab, a community nursing facility nestled in the warm and friendly Irving Park neighborhood, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activity Aid to join our team. As an Activity Aid, you will play a vital role in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs for our residents.
Essential Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating activity programs and quality assurance programs in the facility
Observe and document resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement to evaluate facility activities and resident progress
Develop and maintain a good working rapport with other departments within the facility to ensure seamless daily activities
Create and maintain a warm, personalized, and positive atmosphere throughout the facility
Prepare activity rooms/areas for scheduled programs, recommend equipment and supply needs, and clean up after activities
Provide daily activities for residents based on their care plans and oversee residents engaged in scheduled activities to promote their physical, social, and mental well-being
Assist residents with in-room activities, errands, and personal care as needed
Qualifications:
Prior experience in a Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred
Must possess patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, with the ability to handle residents of varying maturity levels
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Physical Demands:
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stresses of this position
Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies
Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility
