Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a part-time bus driver. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting passengers safely and efficiently while providing excellent customer service. This position requires a commitment to safety, punctuality, and adherence to all traffic regulations. The bus driver will work primarily at the bus garage/maintenance facility and will interact with a diverse range of passengers. This position is approximately 5 hours per day, with additional hours available through extracurricular routes.
Responsibilities
- Operate the bus safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
- Assist passengers in boarding and alighting from the bus, including those with disabilities.
- Maintain a clean and organized bus interior.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, providing information about routes, schedules, and service changes.
- Report any vehicle maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including passenger counts and mileage.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules, ensuring timely arrival and departure.
- Attend training sessions and safety meetings as required.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Previous experience driving buses or large vehicles preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Commitment to safety and a strong understanding of traffic regulations.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
