Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Manufacturing Support Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is vital in maintaining smooth manufacturing operations, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and supporting production activities within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of GMP and CGMP standards, and experience with industrial chemical handling to contribute to our commitment to quality and safety.
The Manufacturing Support Technician is a hands-on technical resource responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations through equipment setup, process improvement, tooling support, fixture development, and production troubleshooting. This position reports to the Facilities and Tooling Coordinator and works directly with production personnel to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure products are manufactured safely, consistently, and to quality standards.
The ideal candidate enjoys spending the majority of their time on the manufacturing floor, working alongside operators to solve problems, improve processes, and ensure production equipment is operating efficiently. This role is the primary technical support resource for production and serves as a liaison between Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Management.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent hands-on troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to perform machine setups and support production changeovers.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
· Familiarity with machining, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing processes.
· Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
· Basic CAD experience (SolidWorks or AutoCAD) is desirable.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles.
· Understanding of manufacturing documentation and quality management systems.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Set up manufacturing equipment and production machinery as required to support daily operations.
- Assist operators with machine setups, changeovers, troubleshooting, and process adjustments.
- Diagnose and resolve manufacturing issues involving equipment, tooling, fixtures, and production processes.
- Develop, improve, and document manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Design, build, modify, or coordinate the fabrication of fixtures, tooling, jigs, gauges, and work-holding devices.
- Create and maintain work instructions, setup sheets, visual aids, and other manufacturing documentation.
- Perform time studies and evaluate workflow to improve throughput and labor efficiency.
- Support new product introductions by developing practical manufacturing methods and production documentation.
- May need to perform machine operations as part of production schedule as needed. This will be a requirement for training on equipment during the start of the role.
Other Responsibilities:
- Support equipment installation, relocation, and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance activities with Maintenance and Production personnel.
- Maintain tooling inventories and recommend improvements to manufacturing equipment and tooling.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with company quality procedures and applicable ISO quality system requirements.
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized manufacturing environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
- Associate degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field preferred, however not required.
- Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and manufacturing experience will be considered.
- Minimum of three years of hands-on manufacturing experience in machining, fabrication, assembly, or similar production environments.
- Demonstrated experience performing machine setups, equipment adjustments, and process troubleshooting.
- Experience designing or working with tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids.
- Experience using ERP systems, such as JobBOSS².
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Enjoys working on the manufacturing floor and solving practical problems. This is a fast paced, and constantly changing job shop environment.
- Strong mechanical and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Able to prioritize multiple projects while supporting day-to-day production needs.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating across departments.
- Ability to stand and walk throughout an eight-hour shift.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely work around manufacturing equipment while wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and shop equipment.
- Occasional overtime may be required to support production schedules or equipment installations.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
