Job Summary
The Art Supply Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store, driving sales, delivering an exceptional customer experience, managing inventory, and leading a high-performing retail team. The ideal candidate has a passion for art, strong retail management experience, and excellent leadership and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Store Operations
* Oversee day-to-day store operations to ensure efficient and profitable performance.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and loss prevention procedures.
* Open and close the store as required.
Sales & Customer Service
* Meet or exceed sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals.
* Provide expert product recommendations for artists, students, educators, and hobbyists.
* Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
* Develop strategies to increase sales and customer loyalty.
Team Leadership
* Recruit, train, coach, and supervise store associates.
* Schedule staff to meet business needs while controlling labor costs.
* Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback.
* Foster a positive, collaborative, and customer-focused work environment.
Inventory & Merchandising
* Manage inventory levels, ordering, receiving, and stock replenishment.
* Monitor inventory accuracy and minimize shrinkage.
* Execute merchandising plans, seasonal displays, and promotional campaigns.
* Coordinate with vendors and corporate purchasing teams.
Financial Management
* Monitor daily sales, margins, and operating expenses.
* Prepare reports on store performance and key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Manage cash handling, banking deposits, and POS accuracy.
* Analyze sales trends to optimize product assortment.
Community Engagement
* Build relationships with local artists, schools, universities, and art organizations.
* Organize workshops, demonstrations, and community events to increase store traffic.
* Promote the store through local partnerships and marketing initiatives.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, Fine Arts, or a related field preferred.
* 3–5+ years of retail management experience, preferably in art supplies, crafts, specialty retail, or creative products.
* Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
* Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
* Experience with inventory management and retail POS systems.
* Ability to analyze sales data and implement action plans.
* Passion for art and familiarity with art materials is highly desirable.
Preferred Skills
* Knowledge of fine art materials (paints, brushes, canvases, drawing supplies, printmaking, sculpture, etc.).
* Visual merchandising experience.
* Budgeting and financial reporting.
* Event planning and community outreach.
* Microsoft Office and retail management software proficiency.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
