Windward Shaw, a growing custom-home builder in the greater Newburyport area, is hiring entry-level carpenters — including recent trade school graduates ready to learn the trade. This is a ground-floor opportunity to build a career in high-end residential construction alongside a team that takes craftsmanship seriously. You'll start with the fundamentals and grow into the full construction lifecycle through hands-on, on-the-job training.
What You'll Do
- Start with site cleaning, basic framing, and frame punch
- Learn the full construction lifecycle through on-the-job training and mentorship
- Work closely with experienced carpenters on luxury renovations and custom new construction
- Take pride in every detail — treating each job site with the care you'd give your own home
What We're Looking For
- Reliable transportation, basic tools, and appropriate work attire
- Able to work 40 hrs/week, Monday–Friday, 7 AM–4 PM
- A team player who communicates well and shows up ready to work
- Eagerness to learn, grow, and take on more responsibility over time
- Pride in your work and a genuine interest in the building trades
Pay & Schedule
Starting at $20/hr, with raises as your skills grow. Full-time, Monday–Friday. Almost all work is local to the Greater Newburyport area — no long commutes to distant job sites.

To maintain our uncompromising standard of care, we intentionally limit our portfolio to just 6–10 projects a year and focus exclusively on the Greater Newburyport area — ensuring every project, and every person on our team, gets the attention they deserve.
