About the Role
Let's be clear about what this role isn't: you don't teach the academics. You don't plan lessons. You don't grade papers. You don't need a teaching certification or a college degree.
A certified teacher does all of that, live online, while the kids are in your home. You're the host, the warm adult in the room, the one who runs the fun part of the day.
Sunny is building a network of small in-person learning pods across the country. You provide a quiet space in your home and host 4 to 6 students Monday through Thursday from 9:30 to 1:30. During the day, a certified teacher leads two hours of live online instruction. The rest is yours: hands-on projects, group games, outdoor time, lunch, art, science experiments, reading, and free play.
You don't teach. You make it fun.
What You Actually Do
- Welcome the kids each morning and run a short circle to start the day
- Get them settled for their online classes with the certified teacher
- Run hands-on projects, games, and enrichment when they're off-screen (art, science experiments, building, cooking, gardening, whatever you love doing with kids)
- Take them outside, get them moving
- Keep the day calm, predictable, and warm

Compensation
$25/hour for 16 hours per week, plus $100/month per student in your pod.
That's a $1,700/month base, plus pod bonus. With two groups of 5 students, around $2,700/month for 16 hours a week.
Schedule
4 hours per day, 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Thursday. Afternoons free. Fridays free.
Most Pod Leaders host two groups of students across the week — for example, one group on Monday and Wednesday, and a second on Tuesday and Thursday. Two groups means double the per-student bonus without doubling your hours.
To Launch a Pod, We Need Three Things From You
- A space. A safe room in your home where 4 to 6 students can meet during weekday daytime hours. It doesn't need to be fancy. It needs to feel good to be in.
- A few families to start. Sunny markets and enrolls, but the pods that launch fastest usually start with 2 students the Pod Leader already knows — a neighbor, a co-op friend, a family from church, your own kids' friends.
- The launch. Once your space and first students are ready, Sunny walks you through training, setup, family introductions, and your first day.
Who This Fits
- You don't need a teaching background. You need to like kids, be reliable, and have a space.
- Stay-at-home parents who want meaningful income without leaving home
- Homeschool parents who want their own kids in a small learning community
- Retired or former teachers who miss the kids but don't want to plan another lesson
- Childcare providers, nannies, and after-school staff who already know how to run a calm day with kids
- Coaches, camp counselors, and youth leaders who love working with kids
- Community-minded adults who want their home to be a place where kids learn and grow
