Responsibilities
- Assist patients and residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical records standards.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory impairments, or behavioral health needs by implementing tailored care plans.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care or wound management to prevent infection and promote healing.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in settings like hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, outpatient clinics, or home care environments.
- Demonstrate proficiency in working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring behavioral health support.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and patient service tracking.
- Support emergency responses in urgent care or Level I trauma center environments by applying basic life support skills when needed.
- Uphold patient safety protocols by monitoring for infectious disease symptoms and practicing proper infection control measures during all patient interactions.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant in settings such as hospitals nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support procedures.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health conditions enhances your ability to deliver personalized care.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks is advantageous for maintaining accurate medical records.
- Hands-on experience with specialized care areas such as hospice care, acute care, sub-acute care, or post-acute settings is a plus.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy or assist with medical-surgical procedures adds value to your skill set.
