Role: Subject Matter Expert - Legal (US)
About the Role
In this role, you will create and evaluate content used to train AI systems. Your work will involve writing realistic legal tasks, developing solution logic, reviewing AI-generated responses, and improving outputs for accuracy within U.S. legal contexts. This role is ideal for attorneys with 2–6 years of experience who have strong legal reasoning skills, attention to detail, and are comfortable working independently in a flexible remote environment.
Engagement & Compensation
- Engagement: Freelance, Contract/ 1099, part-time (project-based)
- Location: Remote (United States)
- Experience: 2-6 years post-qualification
- Compensation: Based on skill and assessment
- Payments: Bi-weekly
Projects may be extended based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
You will contribute to AI training in the following ways:
- Task Authoring: Create realistic legal task prompts across domains such as litigation, contracts, compliance, intellectual property, employment, and regulatory matters.
- Solution Development: Prepare detailed step-by-step legal reasoning and provide Golden Answers or legally supported conclusions.
- Verifier Creation: Develop 10–25 binary verifiers per task based on legal analysis and expected outcomes.
- Data Preparation: Build or source supporting legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, statutes, regulations, policies, and case materials.
- Quality Control: Ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity while embedding realistic legal challenges, exceptions, and reasoning traps.
- AI Evaluation: Analyze how AI models perform on complex legal tasks and identify potential reasoning errors.

Pay: $50.00 - $80.00 per hour
