PART-TIME CUSTODIAN
Department: Crossville City Hall and Crossville Police Department
This employee will be responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks relating to the general care and cleaning of City Hall and Crossville Police Department.
This is a part-time position with normal required hours averaging 20-25 hours per week. Working hours will be Monday-Friday, 2:30PM-6:30PM. Stated hours could be negotiable.
Part-time employees are not eligible for employment benefits.
Hourly rate of pay is $13.50.

EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION

The employee will operate various types of tools/equipment including, but not limited to: mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, ladders and other custodial equipment.
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors; indoor work will involve exposure to unpleasant conditions such as dust, dirt, refuse and cleaning agents; outdoor work will be performed in various weather conditions.

The employee will be required to wear appropriate clothing and protective equipment. Protective equipment is provided by the department. Appropriate protective footwear is required to be worn each workday.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ensures that material and equipment are properly used and cared for and is responsible for keeping equipment clean and in proper working condition.

Observes proper safety standards and precautions.

Performs custodial work at Crossville City Hall and Crossville Police Department.
- Clean, dust, vacuum, mop, sweep and disinfect areas such as entry ways, restrooms, kitchens, break rooms, offices, conference rooms, hallways, etc.

Polishes furniture, metal work and glass.

Collects and disposes of refuse and recycling daily.
- Restocks restrooms, kitchens and break rooms with appropriate supplies of paper, plastic, soap, etc.

Requests supplies and equipment per department policy.

Maintains adequate inventory of paper and plastic supplies for restocking; as well as cleaning supplies. Storage of cleaning supplies are to be properly stored and cared for.

Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment as required for job.

Ability to exercise independent judgement to execute work tasks within a reasonable time period and in responding to custodial and maintenance duties.

Knowledge of safety procedures for storage, usage, handling and disposal of potentially hazardous waste and cleaning materials.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to the following can be approved at the discretion of the department supervisor, Human Resources Manager and City Manager.

High school diploma, or equivalent, with related experience a plus.

Consideration will be given to individuals currently enrolled in high school.

Valid Tennessee driver's license.

Must be examined by a City designated physician to make a determination if applicant will be able to perform all essential duties required of this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines, tools and equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects/materials. Requires bending, crouching, stooping. Must be able to lift assemblies of various weights; however, assistance (both physical and mechanical) is provided when necessary.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, oil, fuels, grease, odors, wetness, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, toxic agents. Work includes indoors and outdoors as required for custodial activities.
INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling to convey or exchange information.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Requires the ability to read a variety of informational documentation, directions, instructions, and methods and procedures related to the job.
INTELLIGENCE: Requires the ability to learn and understand basic to complex principles and techniques; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to the job.
FORM/SPATIAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape, visually and with equipment.
MOTOR COORDINATION: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes in using automated equipment.
MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. Must have average levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
COLOR DISCRIMINATION: Requires the ability to differentiate colors and shades of color.
INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT: Requires the ability to deal with people (i.e. staff, supervisors, general public, and officials) beyond giving and receiving instructions such as in interpreting departmental policies and procedures. Must be adaptable to performing under minimal stress when confronted with an emergency related to the job.
