Director of Nursing DON

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing DON to join our team at Gulfport Nursing Center, a 50-bed skilled nursing facility, due to a renovation but eventually will be returning to 126-beds, located in beautiful Pasadena near the beaches and St Pete. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and services to our residents.
Job Summary:
As the Director of Nursing DON, you will be responsible for overseeing the nursing department, managing day-to-day operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will be an advocate for our residents, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet their unique needs. Your exceptional leadership skills, clinical expertise, and passion for patient care will enable you to inspire and motivate our nursing staff to provide exceptional service.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the nursing department, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and protocols
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including HIPAA, JCAHO and CMS
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Provide guidance and support to the nursing staff, promoting a culture of compassion, respect, and excellence
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and satisfaction
- Monitor and manage budget and expenses, ensuring fiscal responsibility
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including incident reports, accident reports, and staff performance evaluations
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 years of experience in a leadership role in a long-term care setting as director of nursing DON
- Strong clinical background, with experience in gerontological care
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
