- We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Deli Clerk to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food, and maintaining a clean and organized deli area. Ideal candidates will have experience in food service or retail environments, with strong skills in food handling, POS systems, and customer interaction. The Deli Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers while adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of deli items, including meats, cheeses, and prepared foods, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met
- Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for transactions, sales, and upselling opportunities
- Assist customers with selections, answer questions about products, and provide exceptional customer service
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area, including food handling and sanitation protocols
- Restock shelves, prepare displays, and manage inventory levels to ensure product availability
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently, including cash handling and cashiering duties
- Follow food safety guidelines and proper sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations
- Assist with bussing tables or cleaning as needed in the café or retail environment
- Support team members during busy periods by managing multiple tasks efficiently with good time management skills
Experience
- Previous experience in food preparation, food service, or retail grocery environments is preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS is a plus
- Experience working in quick service or fast-food restaurants is advantageous
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling techniques is essential
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to upsell products and enhance sales opportunities
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and managing inventory accurately
- Experience working in a grocery store or café setting is beneficial but not required
