Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Audio Visual Technician / Lead Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of audio visual systems across various venues and facilities. As a lead technician, you will also oversee technical operations, mentor junior team members, and ensure seamless AV experiences for clients and event attendees. Your expertise in electrical systems, cabling, mechanical components, and telecommunication infrastructure will be vital to delivering high-quality audiovisual solutions. Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot audio visual equipment including projectors, microphones, speakers, video displays, and control systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of AV systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to electrical and telecommunication systems.
- Manage cabling infrastructure, including low voltage wiring for data, audio, video, and power distribution.
- Utilize hand tools and mechanical knowledge to assemble mounts, enclosures, racks, and other hardware components.
- Troubleshoot software issues related to AV control systems and computer hardware integration; resolve technical problems efficiently.
- Collaborate with clients and event organizers to understand technical requirements and deliver tailored AV solutions.
- Lead field service activities by diagnosing issues on-site quickly and implementing effective repairs or upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards (E & I), telecommunication regulations, and industry best practices during all installations and repairs.
- Mentor junior technicians by sharing knowledge on schematics interpretation, cabling techniques, and system maintenance procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience in field service roles involving AV system installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Strong electrical experience with a focus on low voltage systems such as data cabling (Ethernet), audio/video wiring, and telecommunication infrastructure.
- Familiarity with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics for complex AV setups.
- Hands-on experience working with computer hardware components related to AV control systems or media servers.
- Mechanical aptitude for assembling hardware components using hand tools; ability to read mechanical drawings is a plus.
- Knowledge of software troubleshooting for AV control platforms (e.g., Crestron, AMX) or similar systems is desirable.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in dynamic environments while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
