Craftco, a locally owned and operated metal fabrication and custom manufacturing company in Sheridan, WY, is looking for a mechanically inclined, hands-on problem solver to join our growing team.
This is a unique dual-role position for someone who enjoys variety, technical challenges, and working across multiple areas of a fabrication and machining environment. The ideal candidate would have strong mechanical repair skills, welding/fabrication experience, and the ability to support general shop operations when needed.

Job Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machines, including lathes and mills, as well as lasers, waterjets, forklifts, cranes, and other shop equipment
- Assist with precision machine alignment, turret alignment, sensor alignment, and related mechanical adjustments
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks including replacing or repairing wear components such as bearings, drawbars, belts, brakes, batteries, and other machine or equipment parts
- Perform general preventative maintenance, inspections, and documentation as needed
- Work with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems
- Coordinate with outside service providers when needed while helping reduce unnecessary downtime
Customer Product Rebuilds & Technical Problem Solving
- Support rebuild efforts on customer equipment, including full or partial tear-downs and rebuilds of Trebro Tracktors and similar machinery
- Assist with rebuilds and repairs of customer-owned equipment and products
- Work through incomplete information, older equipment, mixed hydraulic/electrical systems, and complex mechanical assemblies
- Diagnose problems, identify missing or damaged components, organize and identify components, and communicate findings clearly
- Repair or replace hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and mechanical assemblies as needed
- Reassemble equipment to proper working condition while ensuring functionality and reliability
- Help develop practical repair plans and support the team in completing rebuild work correctly and efficiently
- Ability to work through complex systems with missing or worn components and communicate findings clearly is critical
Welding, Fabrication & Shop Support
- Perform welding and fabrication work when maintenance demand allows
- Support the prep shop, including saw operation, grinding, material handling, layout, drilling, and general fabrication preparation
- Operate or assist with shop equipment such as bandsaws, press brakes, waterjets, and other fabrication equipment, depending on experience
- Read and interpret drawings, measurements, and shop instructions
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet production and repair needs
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability
- Experience repairing equipment, vehicles, machinery, agricultural equipment, industrial equipment, or similar systems
- CNC machine maintenance experience is highly preferred but not required for the right mechanically inclined candidate
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
- Ability to work with hydraulics, bearings, belts, sensors, alignments, and general mechanical systems
- Basic electrical troubleshooting experience is a plus
- Ability to take on problems with limited information and work toward practical solutions
- Strong attention to detail, especially when working on precision equipment
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-minded
- Team-oriented with clear communication skills
- Willingness to learn and grow through hands-on work and training
- Valid driver’s license required
