Costa Contracting, Inc. is a Site Development/Heavy Civil contractor seeking qualified individuals to serve as foreman/supervisor. This is a “working foreman” position. Foreman will be expected to organize and direct daily production of work crews performing earthmoving, underground utility installation, and/or demolition and site concrete work. Foreman will be expected to drive the project to successful completion and serve as the point of contact between field and office staff.
To be considered for this position, candidates must have a solid understanding of the planning and execution of earthwork, underground utilities, and structural demolition. Experience working in the heavy/civil or building trades is a must. It is essential to have strong verbal communication and leadership skills. Knowledge in running elevations, testing water & sewer, use of GPS and level guns is a must.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Site safety – work alongside our safety department to guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
- Allocate general and daily responsibilities to the crew
- Supervise the use of heavy equipment
- Resolve problems and anticipate the needs of the job
- Complete daily / weekly reporting paperwork
- Arrange for material deliveries and coordinate with subcontractors from various trades
- Attend project coordination meetings
- Attend company bi-weekly Foreman Meetings.
Requirements:
- Experience in underground utility installation and/or earthmoving (3+ years min)
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations as they apply to our work - OSHA 10, OSHA 30 is a plus!
- Knowledge of construction methods and procedures
- Ability to read project drawings and specifications
- Strong communications skills – ability to use an IPad
- Physically capable of performing daily activities (this is a working foreman’s position)
- Weekends are not required, however, they are sometimes necessary
