Position Title: Human Resources Business Partner II – Employee Relations – JOR
The HRBP II – Employee Relations leads employee relations case management, including fact-finding, conflict resolution, performance improvement support, and separation processes. This role operates with a high degree of independence and manages sensitive and complex workplace matters while providing thoughtful guidance to leaders and supporting resolution of workplace concerns by embracing NYAP’s values of caring for people, connecting communities and promoting peace.
The HRBP II – Employee Relations for La Jornada will perform duties including, but not limited to:
Performs all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s Mission, Values and Philosophies.
Lead employee relations matters from intake through resolution, ensuring timely follow-through and thoughtful communication
Guide performance improvement efforts, including Success Plans, in a manner that promotes accountability, clarity, and employee growth
Conduct fact-finding activities and interviews with involved parties to support thorough and objective review processes
Facilitate conflict resolution and difficult conversations with a solutions-focused and respectful approach
Oversee grievance processes and related documentation to support consistency and NYAP practice/policy alignment
Manage termination and separation processes with compassion, attention to policy, communication, and NYAP/ORR/Federal/State standards
Provide guidance and partnership to leadership on employee relations matters and workplace concerns
Ensure compliance with NYAP, ORR, Federal and State policies in employee relations practices
Assess employee relations concerns and recommend appropriate next steps in partnership with leadership
Prepare summaries and recommendations to support informed decision-making in employee relations matters
Identify patterns or recurring themes in employee relations matters and elevate concerns as appropriate
Perform other duties as requested
Bachelor’s degree or HR certification required
3+ years of HR experience, with a focus on employee relations or workplace investigations
Strong analytical, communication, and conflict resolution skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in assessing situations, prioritize competing needs, and recommend practical next steps
Working knowledge of employment practices, organizational policy application, and documentation standards
Bilingual English/Spanish fluency preferred but not required
Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
Sensitivity to cultural diversity.

Works well independently and as a team member.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
Proficiency in managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
