Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate motor skills, sensory processing, cognitive abilities, and daily living activities in pediatric patients.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each child's unique needs, goals, and developmental stage.
- Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting, promoting independence and functional skills.
- Support children with neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder by applying evidence-based interventions and strategies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physical therapists, educators, and medical professionals—to coordinate care plans and optimize patient outcomes.
- Document clinical notes accurately within electronic health records (EHR), ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards and medical terminology.
- Participate in discharge planning and case management to ensure smooth transitions across care settings or educational environments.
- Provide parent education and training on therapy techniques, adaptive equipment use, and strategies for supporting developmental progress at home or school.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with advances in pediatric occupational therapy practices and physiology knowledge.
Experience
- Proven experience working directly with pediatric populations in outpatient clinics, schools, inpatient settings, or home health environments.

- Prior experience assisting with ADLs and implementing occupational therapy programs aimed at improving functional independence.
- Familiarity with medical documentation procedures using electronic health records (EHR) systems; understanding of medical terminology related to pediatrics is essential.
- Experience working with students with disabilities or special education needs within school settings is highly desirable.
- Background in acute care or inpatient environments—such as hospitals or skilled nursing facilities—is a plus for supporting post-acute care needs.
