Dog Groomer Position Responsibilities:
- Provide full-service grooming: including nail trimming, bathing, brushing, clipping and breed-specific styling according to industry standards
- Safely operate and maintain grooming equipment: including clippers, blades, brushes and dryers
- Evaluate each pet’s individual needs: coat type/condition, temperament, known allergies
- Help maintain a safe, low-stress environment for pets of all sizes and temperament
- Communicate clearly and effectively with pet parents regarding grooming recommendations, maintenance schedule, and any observed health concerns
- Build relationships with pet parents, address their concerns and encourage consistent grooming appointments
- Assist in appointment scheduling and answering pet care questions
- Maintain a clean, sanitized and organized grooming workspace
- Stay current on grooming trends, techniques and best practices to ensure we maintain high-quality service
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Have a grooming certification or at least 1 year grooming experience
- Provide a portfolio of work and reliable references
- Expert knowledge of various dog breeds, grooming standards and basic pet health indicators
- Capable of calmly, professionally and safely handling pets of all sizes & temperaments
- Ability to move and lift equipment/pets weighing up to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods and comfortably reach, bend, kneel, and move quickly
- Ability to work flexible schedules with reliable transportation
- Has or will get all grooming clippers and instruments
Our Ideal Candidate:
- 3+ years of hands-on grooming experience
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with pet parents and grooming team members
- Strong decision making and problem solving abilities
- Strong initiative and desire to actively grow skill set
- Has the ability to be calm under pressure
- Reliable and timely presence to shifts
- Can work confidently both as a team and individually
