Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and quality standards, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and food processors
- Assist in menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation methods
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety regulations and sanitation standards
- Handle food with proper techniques to ensure safety, including slicing, dicing, and portioning ingredients accurately
- Collaborate closely with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and delivery times for smooth service flow
- Follow all safety standards during food production to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe working environment
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant kitchens is highly preferred, especially with dietary department or dietary aide experience
- Strong knowledge of food handling procedures, safety standards, and sanitation practices in the food industry
- Demonstrated culinary experience with excellent knife skills and slicing techniques
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in meal preparation
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Good communication skills to coordinate seamlessly with kitchen team members
- Experience in menu planning, recipe adherence, and catering is a plus but not required
- A proactive attitude towards cleaning duties and maintaining a hygienic workspace
