About Foster Consulting
Foster Consulting is a veteran-owned digital marketing agency specializing in growth strategy and marketing execution for law firms nationwide. For 30 years, we've partnered with attorneys to build sustainable practices that grow and deliver real outcomes for their owners. We use a comprehensive framework that aligns firm positioning, marketing, and intake into a single, scalable strategy.
We're not just another marketing agency. We build real solutions for real businesses, combining strategic consulting with hands-on execution across content creation, website design, video production, SEO/GEO/AEO, digital advertising, and marketing automation through our proprietary DSS™ platform.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Digital Marketing Strategist to run marketing for a portfolio of established clients, most of them law firms doing $1M or more in annual revenue. You own the strategy and the outcomes. Our teams and partners own the execution. In practice, you'll operate as each client's outsourced CMO, with a full marketing department already built and waiting for your direction.
Here's the department you'd be directing:
- An internal web and development team
- An internal content team
- An in-house SEO specialist
- Outside paid media, social, and AEO/SEO partners
You don't need to personally run the crawls, write the content, or build the campaigns. We have people for that. You do need enough fluency across SEO/AEO, paid search and Local Services Ads, content, email, and conversion optimization to direct specialists, pressure-test their recommendations, prioritize by business impact, and spot weak work before the client ever sees it.
Your job is to translate each client's growth goals into an integrated marketing roadmap, direct the people executing it, monitor the data, keep projects moving, and explain performance in the language of a business owner: revenue, signed cases, cost per case, retention. Not rankings and crawl reports.
Do you want control, freedom, and ownership over your client assignments, where you own the why and the how, as long as the client hits their goals? Do you love adapting, reacting, and attacking the market: trying new things, finding out what works and what doesn't, and collaborating with teammates and clients toward the same goal of getting better?
If you thrive on directing talented specialists in a maverick, privately owned, self-funded company with a 30-year reputation of excellence, where the owner cares more about people and client results than squeezing another dollar out of a retainer, keep reading.
What Success Looks Like
- Clients hit the outcomes we agreed to, and they renew and expand scope because they see clear ROI, not vanity metrics.
- Quarterly business reviews lead with revenue, pipeline, and retention impact. Channel performance is supporting evidence, not the headline.
- Strategy decisions work backward from the client's growth goals, not forward from a keyword list.
- Work moves. Projects ship on schedule across web, content, SEO/AEO, social, email, and paid, and nothing stalls waiting on a decision.
- Internal teams and outside partners treat you as the strategic leader and mastermind for your accounts, and you hold them to a high standard.
- You catch problems and create the solution before the client sees the dip: a KPI trending the wrong way, a vendor underdelivering, an intake process leaking leads. You find it, create the plan, and ship the results.
- You leverage established AI tools and systems to produce real outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Strategy & Outcomes (the core of the role)
- Own overall marketing strategy and performance for an assigned client portfolio, with full accountability for agreed business KPIs: revenue, signed cases, cost per case, retention. Not just traffic, rankings, or views.
- Translate client business objectives into integrated plans across SEO/AEO, local search (Google Business Profile, reviews, Local Services Ads), content, paid media, organic social media, email and database marketing, and conversion optimization.
- Identify when a given channel isn't the right lever for a client's goal, and reallocate budget and effort accordingly.
- Diagnose whether a performance gap is a strategy problem, an execution problem, or a client-side problem, and route it to the right fix.
Team & Vendor Direction
- Set priorities and direction for the internal web, content, and SEO teams working on your accounts.
- Direct outside paid media, AEO/SEO, and social partners: brief them, review their work, evaluate results against benchmarks, and escalate when performance slips.
- Run the operating rhythm for your accounts so deliverables ship on time and nothing falls through the cracks.
- Balance your time across the portfolio by impact and account economics, not by whoever is loudest.
Analytics, Reporting & Communication
- Define and track the metrics that matter for each client, connecting marketing activity to signed business using GA4, Google Search Console, call tracking, intake and CRM data, and DSS reporting.
- Build dashboards and reports (Looker Studio or similar) that tell the business story, not just the traffic story.
- Proactively flag risk before it shows up in a QBR.
- Lead strategic conversations with firm owners and executives, and hold clients accountable to their side of the plan: intake, follow-up, capacity.
Cross-Functional & Leadership
- Build and present quarterly business reviews framed around outcomes and ROI.
- Support the sales process for qualified prospects: conduct the pre-sale marketing audit, join the sales call to present your findings, and field the prospect's questions. The strategy you pitch is the strategy you'll run.
- Mentor junior strategists and analysts on connecting marketing work to client business goals.
- Contribute to internal process, tooling, and methodology improvements. We're all learning all the time, and you might have better solutions.
Your First 90 Days
- Days 1 to 30: Learn our growth frameworks and the DSS platform, shadow QBRs, meet every team and partner you'll direct, and take ownership of your first accounts.
- Days 31 to 60: Own the full portfolio of [X] accounts, audit each account's current plan against its goals, and run your first QBRs.
- Days 61 to 90: Present an updated growth roadmap for every client and complete your first team and vendor performance review cycle.
Values
- Fierce Loyalty – We show accountability by being fiercely responsible to results and our clients' transformation, and we show up for the entire team.
- Ruthless Honesty – Truth over comfort. Clear is kind. We tell the truth even when it hurts so we can plan and move forward.
- Fearless Innovation – Move fast. With wisdom. We're constantly observing what's going on, making adjustments to the plan when needed, and taking action. Marketing moves fast and so do we.
- Courageous Decisions – Do it, even if it hurts.
- Joyful Adventure – Life loves you. Enjoy the ride. Find abundance in all that you do!
Mission Statement
We help entrepreneurial law firm owners take back control of their business, their growth, and their future so they can build a firm, and a life, on their own terms.
By combining proven marketing systems, operational discipline, client experience innovation, and strategic coaching, lawyers move from:
- Reactive → Intentional
- Overwhelmed → In Control
- Plateaued → Growing
- Operator → Owner
- Successful → Fulfilled
QualificationsRequired
- Available for full-time, exclusive employment.
- 5+ years in digital marketing, with at least 3 years owning client-facing strategy (agency, consultancy, or client-side with external stakeholders).
- A track record of directing work you didn't personally execute: internal specialists, contractors, or agencies, across at least three channels. Be ready to walk through how you briefed, evaluated, and course-corrected them.
- Working fluency in SEO/AEO, paid search and LSAs, content, and email. Deep enough to direct, evaluate, and challenge specialists.
- Demonstrated experience tying marketing to business results, including reporting from CRM, intake, or call tracking data, not just analytics dashboards. Be ready to discuss specific examples.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI to achieve real outcomes and automate real work, not just play with prompts.
- Comfortable in GA4, Google Search Console, and tools like Semrush or Ahrefs. You can interrogate the data yourself, even if you don't run the audits.
- Experience presenting directly to owners and senior stakeholders, and holding clients accountable to agreed outcomes.
- Strong project management across multiple teams and vendors.
- Strong written and verbal communication. You can turn data into a business narrative for non-marketers.
Preferred
- Legal marketing experience, in-house or agency.
- Local search depth: Google Business Profile, review generation, local pack, Local Services Ads.
- Familiarity with attribution modeling and call tracking platforms (CallRail, CallTrackingMetrics, or similar).
- Experience managing white-label or contractor relationships.
- CRO and paid social experience.
- Experience with project management platforms like ClickUp, Asana, or Basecamp.
- Hands-on experience with CRM and marketing automation platforms (GoHighLevel, HubSpot, or similar).
- Experience supporting a sales process: pre-sale audits, discovery or scoping calls, or presenting as the strategist in the room.
