Safety and Quality Field Technician – CLAD Consulting, Inc.
Clad Consulting, Inc. is seeking multiple Safety/Quality Field Technicians to support our clients with utility, power, and infrastructure maintenance projects across Southern California. This is a hands-on, field-focused role where you’ll play a critical part in keeping crews safe while supporting essential projects that impact communities. As the Safety/Quality Field Technician, you’ll be the boots-on-the-ground leader responsible for ensuring safe work practices across crews, subcontractors, and vendors. Position Summary: As a Safety/Quality Field Technician, you will oversee field safety ensuring crews, subcontractors, and vendors follow all safety standards while identifying and mitigating risks in real time. This role leads safety observations, enforces safe work practices, and supports incident prevention and compliance across active job sites. Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide field oversight across multiple job sites, ensuring safe execution of work and alignment with all safety expectations.
- Provide oversight across critical safety programs, including confined space entry, traffic control and work zone protection, hazardous energy control (LOTO), and fire and wildland risk prevention.
- Direct and monitor daily operations to drive compliance with client standards, Cal/OSHA regulations, and internal safety programs.
- Lead proactive risk identification, assessment, and mitigation efforts to prevent incidents before work begins.
- Facilitate and oversee safety observations, audits, and meaningful engagement with field crews to continuously improve safety performance.
- Champion a safety-first culture, enforcing safe work practices and exercising stop-work authority when necessary to protect workers and the public.
- Oversee incident management, reporting, and corrective action implementation, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement.
- Analyze and manage safety data, trends, and performance metrics to identify risks and drive strategic safety initiatives.
Ideal Candidate: We’re looking for a proactive safety leader who thrives in dynamic field environments and takes ownership of building and maintaining a strong safety culture. The ideal candidate brings a combination of technical safety expertise, strong field presence, and the ability to influence and hold teams accountable, while effectively communicating with crews, subcontractors, and leadership. Your experience may include:
- Previous experience leading safety programs in construction, utilities, or related industries. Prior experience in utility, infrastructure, or field-based environments required.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
- Proven experience conducting field safety observations, audits, and using reporting/tracking systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead crews, influence behavior, and enforce safety standards in the field.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage directly with field teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of underground construction methods and jobsite safety practices.
- Proficient in related computer software and technologies including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus.
- Ability to travel onsite daily through various locations throughout California and/or parts of Nevada.
These are full-time positions requiring travel to various sites throughout Southern California. We are looking for candidates in the Greater Los Angeles Area. The hours of work will vary based on project location and may require day or night work. The reasonable pay range is between $25.00 to $50.00 per hour, depending on experience.
